Anyone with an interest in using FOI to access information. In this regard, it may be of particular value to those interested in pursuing a career in journalism or other forms of investigative research.

course overview

Participants on this single-session course will learn how to make an effective FOI request; gain an understanding of what can, and cannot, be accessed through FOI; learn how to deal with refusals to release information; and learn how to locate material that has already been released into the public domain via FOI requests made by others.

Dr Christopher J Murphy

Dr Christopher J. Murphy is a Senior Lecturer in Intelligence Studies at the University of Salford. He has researched and published extensively on the history of the British intelligence community during the twentieth century, including articles for The Conversation. His latest book, Intelligence and Espionage: Secrets and Spies (with Dan Lomas) was published by Routledge in February 2019.
